4. PICTURES OF THE WEEK
In order to make it into the VCC Bulletin, you need to do 3 things:
a. Wear a VCC Jersey or stand next to someone wearing a VCC Jersey,
b. Take a picture or have one taken of you; and
c. Email them to venetocyclingclub@venetocentre.com
Entry No. 1: YRCC PICNIC – Photo submitted by Frank Mazzuca
The VCC made a big splash at this year’s YRCC picnic with branded tent, signboards and even tablecloth. Kind of feels like North Korea launching an ICBM – everyone’s watching to see what’s going to happen next.
The lineup of presidents of the various clubs of York Region. I don’t know if we have the best cyclists but I’d put our jersey up against any other jersey any day of the week – not just on Sundays. And by the way, where’s the Vaughan Veloforte? ….. Exactly my point.
Entry No. 3: SUNDAY’S RIDE TO BUTTER & CUP – Photo submitted by Fausto Rossetto
So the title for this picture is the only caption that came with the picture.
Where is Butter & Cup? I don’t know.
How far is Butter & Cup? I don’t know.
What do they serve at Butter & Cup and is it good? I don’t know and I don’t know.
Was it good to see Sandro Bassi? I don’t know.
Did Enzo fall off his bake? I don’t know that either.
People, give us a bit of info – work with me.
Entry No. 4: RIDE THE HUMBER TRAIL TO THE LAKE – Photo submitted by Frank Mazzuca
A couple of weeks ago, a group of VCC riders lead by Angelo DeMedicis, followed the Humber Trail down to the lake front and posed for this gorgeous shot. The red jerseys really pop out against the blue background. The fellow in blue is fellow VCC member Domenic Fazzari who met up with the main group only by coincidence (or was it god-incidence?). anyway, Domenic is the poster-boy as to why you need to wear your Sunday Best on Sundays – you never know who you’re going meet and you don’t want to look out of place. It’s like when you were a kid and your mother told you to wear clean underwear because you just never knew if you got hurt and had to be taken to hospital: never mind the blood, at least you have clean underwear.
Entry No. 5: BEAM ME UP SCOTTY – Photo submitted by Frank Mazzuca
Entry No. 6: TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART – Photo submitted by Armando Merlo
This photo of the “diamond ring” was not downloaded from the internet, but was provided by fellow VCC member Armando Merlo who travelled down to Wyoming to witness the recent solar eclipse from a the best vantage point. He went down with almost 100 pounds of camera equipment and captured a series of magnificent shots. Now don’t stare at the picture too long but if you look at the corona to the left of the diamond, you can see what faintly looks like a VCC jersey – that’s how the picture qualifies for the post.
Entry No. 7: ONE DAY ALICE, POW! STRAIGHT TO THE MOON – Photo submitted by Frank Mazzuca
In keeping with the Outer Space theme, our VCC group that went down by the lake met this fellow (no name provided) who is wearing an interesting t-shirt. It says that the fellow was on his bicycle for 14 years from September 2012 to June 2016 and rode 475,000 km. That’s like travelling from the Earth to the moon and that’s pretty impressive. Then again, I’ve got a t-shirt that says that I ran the Boston Marathon in 2013. Woo-hoo!
