2.  META CENTRE GRANFONDO – Sunday June 25, 2017

You may have missed the Early Bird sign up, you can join the ride up to the time the starter’s pistol goes off.  But you might want to think twice about doing that especially if you’ve got a wide foot.  The organizers are giving out free pairs of Adidas shoes and the tough sizes seem to go fast.  So come out early and help a great cause.  You’ll be in good company – about 20 of our riders have already signed up.

The META Foundation is hosting its 16th Annual Family Walk, Relay & Gran Fondo on Sunday June 25, 2017, to raise funds for the Meta Foundation which provides programmes and assistance to individuals with special needs and their families.  The Gran-fondo has been taking place since 2014 and the Veneto Cycling Club has been there from the very beginning and in numbers that make us stand head and shoulders above everyone else.  Have a look at the META Foundation page and you will see how we dominate in pictures: www.metacentre.ca/gran-fondo
We hope to see you there.
3.  2017 APPAREL HAS ARRIVED

The 2017 apparel order is available for pick up before the rides.  Just ask for Frank Mazzuca2. He’s the good looking one in the poster.

4.  RUNNING STOP SIGNS CAN ATTRACT DEMERIT POINTS

Rick Marchesan passed along this article he found in the paper (I know, I almost fell over too – he can read!).  The gist is that what you do on the orad with your bike can attract demerit points on your license as though you were driving your car.

5.  TEST YOUR BIKE KNOWLEDGE

Brian Farrugia sent us this item that he found.  It’s a short quiz about bike road rules.  If you get perfect, you can write us abck to tell us about it.

6.  PICTURES OF THE WEEK

In order to make it into the VCC Bulletin, you need to do 3 things:

a.    Wear a VCC Jersey or stand next to someone wearing a VCC Jersey,

b.    Take a picture or have one taken of you; and

c.    Forward it to me

Entry No. 1:  RAIN RAIN GO AWAY – submitted by Lu Galasso

Last Sunday we started out in great spirits until the skies opened up for 30 minutes or so and then the sun returned. Pictured here are the Reds waiting out the storm.  The Greens, on the other hand, rode home in the rain in a full on retreat.

GO, THIRTEEN!

Entry No. 2:  HAVING A STEAM WITH JOE AVATI – submitted by Angelo DeMedicis

Pictured below are fellow VCC Member Angelo DeMedicis and funny man Joe Avati, the Australian comedic superstar, at the Lifetime Fitness Club on Weston Rd.  The funny part however, was that Angelo and Joe Avati were sitting next to each other in the steam room for the longest time but it wasn’t until they were in the locker room putting on their underpants that Angelo looked up an asked “Hey, aren’t you Joe Avati?”

Entry No. 3:  DON’T FORGET YOUR ELECTROLYTES – Photo submitted by Frank Morassut

It speaks for itself.  We can say no more.
