Last week we had a perfect record. No sign ups and no rides.  Let’s set another record this week.
And don’t forget to bring your membership card.  There are a lot of new faces this year and we’ll be running checks for the first few weeks until we get to know you better.  So don’t get offended if someone asks you to show them your papers.  Grandpa was always happy to oblige – it’s how he got by.

2.  PEI GRAN FONDO – Meeting on Wednesday May 17 at 8:00pm

PEI Gran Fondo

Celebrate Canada’s 150th Birthday by riding where it all began one and a half centuries ago: Charlottetown PEI.  The PEI Gran Fondo (August 25 – 27) has something to offer for riders of all abilities and the views are spectacular.  You will experience ecstasy when you see the 50 shades of green – although not the same ecstasy as the 50 shades of grey.

If you like fish, then you’ll love this Gran Fondo.  There’s a lobster dinner included in the price of admission.  Further, the fish out in the Maritimes is none like you’ve had here.  The lobster is fabulous, the scallops are out of this world and when you have a piece of fish, you don’t taste fish – you taste the sea.  Ahhh, le mer!

The event is capped at 500 riders. So the event is small enough as not to be overwhelming, but at the same time, it means that you need to act soon.  If you want more info, here is a link to the official site: granfondo-pei.  Rick Marchesan and Frank Mazzuca (squared) will be spearheading this initiative and you can contact them with any questions at venetocyclingclub@venetocentre.com .

There will be an info meeting for those interested in forming a “Team Veneto” for the PEI Gran Fondo
PLACE: The Phoenix
DATE:  Wednesday May 17; 8:00pm

 3.       VCC PICTURES OF THE WEEK

In order to make it into the VCC Bulletin, you need to do 3 things:

a.    Wear a VCC Jersey or stand next to someone wearing a VCC Jersey,
b.    Take a picture or have one taken of you; and
c.    Forward it to me

Entry No. 1:  THE WEATHER GODS – submitted by Rick Marchesan
Rick sent in this photo from the first weeknight ride after the heavy rains.  He left a caption to the effect that the desire to ride outweighed the threat of the weather gods.  After seeing the expressions on the faces of our riders, I got another picture of what he meant by the weather gods.

A favourite video clip about the weather gods, Thunder and Lightning:

Entry No. 2:  IF IT RAINS ON SUNDAY, THEN RIDE ON TUESDAY – submitted by Fausto Rossetto

Fausto sent in this photo of the close to 40 riders that showed up to the first weekday ride.  It’s the largest number we’ve ever had and a great sign for the upcoming season.

Most prodigious.

Entry No. 3:  FOUND MY THRILL ON STRAWBERRY HILL – submitted by Angelo DeMedicis

Rob, Bruno and Angelo rode to Strawberry Hill last week from this Starbucks on Weston Rd.  Half way up the hill they wished they had skipped the iced grande decaf, two-shot, six pumps caramel, soy, extra whipped cream caramel macchiato.  Puuleeeze: no este cafe’.
