1.  UPCOMING RIDES – Sunday April 23, 2017; 8:00 am; FIRST RIDE

2.  MANDATORY SAFETY TRAINING – Saturday April 22 at 9:00 am

Your last chance at redemption

Only 19 out of our 156 members have not attended the mandatory safety training.  Many thanks to the great majority (it’s greater than what we thought it would be).

As for the 19 who are facing the next pitch with a full count: Do Not Strikeout.  Don’t let me down.

You have 1 last chance to hit out of the park.  Don’t think that you’ll be able to show up on ride day and just slide in.

Here’s the simple math: No training = no membership card = no riding.

You can prepare by reviewing the following documents found on our website: Group Riding Techniques and VCC Ride Guide

3.  VCC® CLUB WEAR STORE TO CLOSE APRIL 16

Orders for the VCC® Club Wear will be issued to our supplier on this coming Monday.  That means that you have until this Sunday to get your order in.  The VCC Store closes this Sunday.

se this link to reach our store: http://venetocentre.com/site/venetocycling/shop/If you enter the site from the landing page, you will find the “SHOP” tab in the “MEMBERSHIP” pull-down menu.

If you want to know what size to order, take a trip to CyclePath at 70 Winges Rd, Woodbridge and ask Sam to size you up.  But don’t wait too long or you’ll miss the first order.  Then you’ll have to wait for the second order and probably August until you see the goods.

4.  ITALIAN TRIP – We’re on our way

On April 5 about 35 members met at an info night for the trip to Italy being organized for September.

35 members: That’s good enough for me.  We’re good to go.

If you would like to get on board, just send us an e-mail and ask to be placed on the Italy Trip mailing list and details will come your way.

5.  NEW DEVICE INVENTED TO HELP MIND THE “Rossetto Gap”

Anyone who rode with us in the past or attended one of our safety meetings, has been exposed to the concept of the Rossetto Gap.  It is that elusive, almost mythical, 6″ space between the rear tire of the rider in front of you and the leading edge of your front tire.  Fausto Rossetto, the Ride Capo, will constantly remind you to mind the “Gap” and so those 6″ have come to be known as the “Rossetto Gap”.

Six inches sounds easy until you try it.  Then it becomes intimidating, nerve-racking, almost terrifying UNLESS you have absolute confidence in the abilities of the rider in front of you and you have just as much steely nerves as the person in front of you.

The Rossetto Gap was the single most difficult part of group riding – even more difficult than a 10% grade – until now.  Thanks to the inventive mind of fellow rider Joe Barone, you can purchase a simple device to manage the Fausto Gap.

2017 04 01

The Rossetto Gap Assure is a concave profiled wheel attached to a frame by way of a high speed low friction bearing.  The entire device bolts directly onto the forks of your bike.  The concave profile wheel mates with the rear tire of the bike in front of yours thereby ensuring that the mythical 6-inch Rossetto Gap is maintained.

The Rossetto Gap Assure is now sale on our online store.  Buy yours today and ride in safety and with the confidence of knowing that you are maintaining the Rossetto Gap.

Ciao for now,
Sandro
