  • Sizing Kits available if you need to order some apparel
  • Speak with purveyors of bicycles and bicycle equipment and apparel
  • Just come out and have some fun
  1. PRESENTING OUR UPDATE CLUB WEAR – The VCC Store is now open

Those that wish to purchase the VCC kit (either because you don’t have one or you want to update to the new design), the VCC store is now open.

Here is the link: http://venetocentre.com/site/venetocycling/shop/

If you enter the site from the landing page, you will find the “SHOP” tab in the “MEMBERSHIP” pull-down menu.

The VCC kit will be slightly different this year.  The jersey will follow the design of our riding jackets and vests.  Here is a preview:

Sponsorship opportunities are very limited.  Contact us immediately if you are interested.  We take this opportunity to thank all our previous and current sponsors for their support.  It is very much appreciated.

  1. 2017 MEMBERSHIP REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN

In order to register, you will have to log into the CCN BIKES website www.ccnbikes.com .  Click “LOGIN” in the far-right corner.  You can use last year’s username and password or create a new account.  Once you have logged in, you will be brought through 2 different areas: Insurance and Membership.

Once you have logged in, click on “FIND” in menu bar; then click “CLUBS” and do a search for “Veneto”.  Once on our page, you can start the registration process.  At a certain point, you will be prompted to purchase a Membership or License with the OCA. Here you will purchase an “Affiliate Club Membership” for $40.  Go through all the process and in the end, it will kick you back to the Veneto Cycling Club membership purchase for $85.  You will have 2 items to pay for at check-out: the OCA Membership (really your insurance premium) for $40 and the VCC Membership for $85.  That’s a total of $125.

You will also be prompted to fill out an on-line waiver form.  This means that the club is only responsible for scraping you off the road in case of an accident – THAT’S IT.  Use your $40 insurance or your personal vehicle insurance (if applicable – your bike is your personal vehicle) for the rest.  In case you do not understand the meaning of “THAT’S IT”, we get you to sign a paper version on Day 1 as well.

I just purchased a membership and it wasn’t all that hard.  Just keep on pushing buttons until you get to the end.  That’s how my wife does it – she pushes my buttons until I’m at the end.

Have fun.

  1.  TORONTO INTERNATIONAL BIKE SHOW – March 3-5

The Toronto International Bike Show will be held this weekend at the Better Living Centre at the CNE.

Here is a link to the site: https://www.bicycleshowtoronto.com/

You can purchase tickets in advance for $13/adult or at the door for $15.

It’s an everything and anything bicycle experience.  Look for our friends from Bianchi – we call them the Bianchi Boys.  As well, I recommend that you stop for a moment at Luigia Zilli’s booth called “Bicycle Art”. Luigia is the lady that has donated artwork for our membership cards and, yes you guessed it, she is from the Veneto.

  1. VCC PICTURES OF THE WEEK

In order to make it into the VCC Bulletin, you need to do 3 things:

  1. Wear a VCC Jersey or stand next to someone wearing a VCC Jersey, and
  2. Take a picture or have one taken of you
  3. Forward it to me

Entry No. 1:  DON ARRIGO IS BACK – submitted by Frank Cistrone

Out with a hip replacement last year, our elder statesman, Arrigo Rossi, is training hard to be ready for our first ride on April 23.

In his own words, he issued this proclamation, a sort of fatwa: “Tell Rick that I’m back and ready to kick his ass.”

I cannot repeat Rick’s response because it was a bit harsh considering that Arrigo is our elder statesman and an inspiration to us all in terms of what we can achieve in later years if we make the time to stay active.  He certainly is an inspiration to me and that’s why I hesitate to repeat Rick’s words but it had something to do with the only way to beat him is if Arrigo has strong legs and something else about a little blue pill.  Let’s leave it at that and in the words of Mark Twain, let us draw the curtain of charity.

Ciao for now,

Sandro
